Study on horizontal bearing characteristics of pile foundations in coral sand

This paper presents the horizontal bearing characteristics of piles in coral sand and silica from comparative experimental studies. Six model with different diameters were tested. The capacity, deformation characteristic, bending moment, p–y curve, change soil pressure, as well particle breakage behaviour investigated. results show that, foundation, capacities increments pressures are obviously greater than those sand. Accordingly, lateral displacement, rotation pile head, corresponding distribution depth significantly smaller curves indicate that stiffness is Remarkably, mainly distributed range 10 times diameter 5 width on side where squeezed by pile.
